Arlene Wilson Obituary

Arlene Faye Wurts went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2024, in Fort Collins, CO.  She was born in Rifle, CO and moved to Leadville when she was 12 years old.  She married Charles Edward Thomas on February 5, 1946, and they welcomed four children, Wayne Edward (Susan), Linda Jean (Al) Lucas, Debra Joann (Jerry) Bennett, and Susan Diane (Dale) Duzenack (Robert Stockman).  They raised their family in Leadville and Ed worked at Climax Molybdenum Mine.  In 1964, after 19 happy years, Arlene lost her first love Edward.  Four years later, once again, Arlene was blessed with a new man in her life and married Alvin Wilson.  She also gained two more daughters, Gloria Jean (Vince) Geppi and Jodie Rae (Jim) Thatcher.  Arlene and Alvin later moved to Canon City, CO where they spent the next 40 years together.

Arlene was a homemaker, beloved school cook, a fantastic bargain shopper, and the best Grandma in the world.  She was strong in her faith and attended Greydene Baptist Church in Canon City.  She trusted the Lord in every thing in her life.

Arlene is survived by her four children, 15 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  She also had numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Virgil Wurts; and two brothers, Arvin and Leroy.
