Arlo Dupont Obituary

A stoic cowboy rides off into the eternal open frontier.

ARLO VANCE DUPONT, 90, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 with family by his side. Arlo was an honest, hardworking man, and a devoted husband to his late wife of 67 years, Jean. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather he was a steady example of integrity and commitment to family. He is survived by his children Bob (Suzanne), Dan (Petey), Vickie (Mark), Bruce, and Mike; his grandchildren Melissa (Jon), Danielle (Austin), Sarah (Kris), Shaun (Mariya), Nick (Nicole), Eric (Brooke), and Trevor; and his great-grandchildren Adelen, Raelynn, Dakota, Aeris, Ameilia, and Runa. Arlo was predeceased by his father Majoric and mother Lea, his 5 siblings, and wife Jean.

Arlo grew up in Red Lake Falls, MN. He married the love of his life Jean in 1955 and together they moved to East Grand Forks, MN where they settled down and raised their 5 children: Bob, Dan, Vickie, Bruce, and Mike. Arlo built three family homes, the family cabin, and his parents house. He worked to provide for his family as an appliance salesman, and was the eventual owner of Goodmans Appliances. An avid outdoorsman, he was in his glory when hunting and fishing while enjoying nature and wildlife. Every weekend the family would head to their cabin at Juggler Lake. In 2005 they were ready for a change and moved to the mountains in Canon City, Colorado. Here, Arlo and Jean enjoyed their retirement years and met a great community of friends. They joined the hiking club and RV camping group. Arlo also loved a good card game. He was creative and had many hobbies, including taxidermy, woodworking, and carving. Every Thursday without fail, he gathered with friends to work on their detailed carving projects. Generous and dependable with his time, Arlo was the first to lend a helping hand. He was a man of faith his entire life, and a longstanding patron of St. Michael’s. We are saddened to say goodbye so suddenly, but are comforted knowing he has reunited with his sweetheart in time for her birthday, after being here with us to celebrate his 90th. A Memorial Mass for Arlo will be held on Friday March 6 at 10:00am at St. Michael Catholic Church: 1016 Mystic Ave, Cañon City, CO.
