Betty Cook Obituary

Our Mom and Grandma Betty Mae Cook went to her Heavenly home on October 2nd, 2024, and is now in the arms of Jesus. She passed away peacefully in her home with her family.  Betty Mae (Mooney) Cook was born in Cedar Grove, Missouri on September 17, 1928, to Raymond and Viola (Duncan) Mooney Botkin.  Betty married Presley Leon Cook on November 28, 1946, in Missouri.  Her husband Presley Leon passed away October 12, 2000.  He has been patiently waiting for his Precious Bett for all these years.  Also preceding in death are her two children, daughter Sharon (Cook) Toothaker and son Kenneth Leon Cook. Also proceeded in death are her parents, 6 brothers....James Mooney, Donald Mooney, Esco Mooney, Otto Mooney, Dee Mooney, and Dariel Botkin.  Her three sisters, Vera Steelman, Ann Nash, and Peggy Morris.  Grandson Ryan Cook. Surviving are her two sisters...Kay Gallagher of Vista, CA, and Carol Fohey of Hannibal, MO, 1 brother...Junior Botkin of O'Fallon, MO. 3 sister-in-laws....Shirley Mooney of Knoxville, TN, Mae Mcneil of Salem, MO. Carolyn Regeon of St. Charles, MO. Betty Mae’s other children Pennie and Chuck Benton, Canon City, Colorado Carl Toothaker Cedaredge, Colorado, Bambi Stewart of Montrose, Colorado along with all her grandchildren.  Kenneth and Lindsay Cook of Penrose Colorado, Michael George Cook of Des Moines, Iowa  Jeremy Cook of Wyoming, Robert Alan Benton of Sioux City Iowa. Dan and Angela Toothaker, David and Robin Toothaker, Aaron and Tiffany Toothaker, and Jason and Theresa Toothaker all of Cedaredge, Colorado.  Jason and Patty Cook of Colorado, and Rayna Cook of  Utah.  Many great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, her precious friends, and her dearly loved Church family she adored.  Betty took great pride and dedication in raising her family, her own children, and her grandchildren, making sure above all else they knew the love of the Lord. She and Presley were dedicated lifetime founding members of E Free Church. Betty would be found in the Children's ministry or preparing and serving meals. She was a beautiful example of what being the hands and feet of Jesus was really about.   Betts loved to tell stories and share memories and bible scriptures, she enjoyed watching Rockies Baseball and Westerns, Dominios, and long chats with friends. She has left behind a beautiful legacy full of love, a place in our hearts so precious and dear full of a lifetime of memories that will help carry us through until we meet again.  

Service for Betty will be November 8th, 2024 at 1 pm at the E Free Church,
3000 E Main Street Canon City, Colorado

In lieu of flowers Betty said, “Times are tough and money is tight, please use the money to pay your tithes at your Church this week”.
