Bonnie Richards, 91, of Florence, Colorado, went to be with her Lord
and Savior on March 5, 2026.
Bonnie, lovingly known as “Granny” to so many, was born April 6, 1934, in
Boughton, Arkansas, to Homer and Ruby Rhoads. She carried a strong faith
and servant’s heart throughout her life.
On July 9, 1951, Bonnie married the love of her life, Lee Richards. Together
they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. In the 1970s they
moved their family to Florence, Colorado, where Bonnie helped start
Florence Christian School at First Southern Baptist Church. She faithfully
served there for more than 30 years, touching countless lives along the way.
Family was Bonnie’s greatest joy. She had a gift for making everyone feel
loved and welcome, whether they were family by blood or simply blessed
enough to be around her. To many, she was more than Bonnie — she
was Granny.
She is survived by her brother Larry Rhodes, sister Sherry (Gary) Johnson,
son, Kelly (Laurie) Richards; adopted daughters Tiann Richards and Megan
(Matt) West; grandchildren Bonny (Eric) Lehmer, Rachel (Tyson) Bergeman,
Sarah (Jake) Hobson, Raelle Forsberg, Chelsy Forsberg, and Jeff (Sebrina)
Mares; along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Laverne Newhouse, her beloved
husband, Lee Richards; daughters Tracy Gingerich, Jill Snyder, and Jacque
Forsberg; son Tony Richards; and great-grandson Adam Holt.
Bonnie’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, hard work, and loving
others well. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many
lives she touched.
Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
