Carolyn Griggs Obituary

Carolyn Ruth Griggs, 68, of Canon City, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020. She was born on March 11, 1952, to Darden and Nancy Lilly in Pueblo, Colorado.

Carolyn graduated from South High School in Pueblo, Colorado.  While working at Kentucky Roast Beef, she fell in love with the manager, Michael Griggs, and they were married on March 17, 1973.  Carolyn stayed at home to raise their three children and various pets that became a part of the family.  As a resident of the Hildebrand Care Center for 12 years, Carolyn had her share of health issues, but she always seemed to maintain a sense of humor, and was known to play good-natured pranks on those around her.  She loved quilting, listening to music, playing games, and also took up painting while at the nursing home, even submitting some of her works of art to the Fremont County art show.

Carolyn leaves behind her devoted husband Michael, their children Andy, Lynzee, and Grant, and five grand-kitties. She is also survived by her brothers Carl and Bruce Lilly, sister Bonnie (Donald) Gross, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Darden and Nancy Lilly, and her sister Carrie Ryskamp.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing can donate online in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
