Charles W. King
10/15/1946 - 08/16/2020
Born in Arizona, he grew up in California, then lived the rest of his life with his young family in Colorado. In their retirement years, Charlie and his wife Betty lived in Canon City for 18 years and enjoyed music, the outdoors, and the local community. They sang with the Fremont Civic Choir, The Golden Tuneagers, church choir, Skyliners duet and various ensembles. He was also a member of First Christian Church and the Odd fellows. Ever the folk singer, when you saw Charlie there was a guitar nearby.
He worked for over 30 years with the phone company and was a lifelong union man. Charlie had many positions from Lineman to installing the Aurora Police Department's 911 system. He went from Pacific Bell to Mountain Bell then U.S. West and QWest.
He is survived by his sister Eileen (Robert) Hammel; daughter Mary (Jay) White; son Daniel (Melanie) King; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Betty King.
At Charlie’s request, a jam session will be held at a later date.
