Charley Hopper (Chuck) was born May 23, 1941 to Charlie Hopper and Thelma Lea Crowe. He was born and raised in Canon City and graduated from Canon City High School in 1959. Charley met and married Doris Ann Foraker on April 3,1964, a marriage that lasted 58 years. In 1959, Charley started working for Mountain Bell and continued there until 1996. In 1961, he took a military leave of absence and joined the Navy for four years. He was deployed with the MCB’s and traveled the world from Vietnam to Hungary. After returning home from his military service, Charley and Doris moved to Colorado Springs. Charley retired from AT&T after 37 years. He enjoyed going camping with his family, fishing, car shows, and working on his own cars. His pride and joy was his 1966 Plymouth Sport Furry which he loved to show off in the car show in Canon City.
Charley is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Robert and Charles (Candida); sisters, Charlsie Myers and Laura Jane Williams; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m, on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Holt Chapel of the Garden: 806 Macon Ave. Canon City, CO.
