Clifford “Cliff” Martin Thompson Sr., of Pueblo, Colorado passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022, with his children lovingly by his side. Cliff was born in Bertrand, Missouri on December 18, 1932. He led a rich and fulfilled life in those 89 years.
Cliff joined the US Army at 17, convincing his mother to sign a waiver. He proudly served during the Korean conflict for 3 years where he received the Purple Heart.
He had a 30-year career with the US Post Office, but his most rewarding work was that of a Bishop with the Church of God. He pastored many churches through the years that took him from Florence, Colorado to British Columbia, Canada, and many destinations in between.
Cliff is survived by his children, Quana Ortega, Joanne (Bob) Johns, Clif (Kim) Thompson, Chris Thompson, Lisa Willey, and Mike (Wendy) Carpenter; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Maverie. He also leaves his sweet dog JoJo who was his constant companion and source of comfort. What a wonderful legacy!
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; second wife, Vera; and infant son, Shawn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022, at The Church of God: 42 Pennwood Ln., Pueblo, CO 81005. Interment will follow services at 2:00 PM at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, CO.
