Dale C. Schermerhorn, age 92, passed away September 21, 2020 in Canon City, where he lived for the last 27 years. He had moved from Colorado Springs.
Dale was born in Flager, Colorado on August 21, 1928 to Daniel and Jeanette (Quinten) Schermerhorn. He graduated from Straton High School and soon joined the United States Air Force, where he served for twenty years. He then worked at the United States Air Force Academy for another 17 years in various capacities. The family took many good trips to Branson, Missouri for Veterans Day, especially the trip in 2002.
He met with the Community Church of God, in Colorado Springs for many years. He also served as the past commander of the Canon City VFW post 4061, and was a member of the American Legion, and Florence Senior Center, where he had many friendships.
Dale is survived by his sons, Gene, Phil, Tim (Denise); brother, Robert (Sharen); sisters, Barbara, Dorothy, Ella Mae; grandson, Andrew (MacKensie); great grandchildren, Secret and Aura, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie, second wife, Marilyn; daughter in law, Deborah; brothers, John (Vera), Paul; brothers-in-law, Leo, Roy, Russell, Louis, and Donald.
A memorial service will be held in Dale’s honor 10:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2020 at First Church of God 528 W. Abriendo Ave, Pueblo, CO 81005.
