David Lawrence Brothers, age 73, left earth with peace for his heavenly home from Westcliffe, Colorado, March 1, 2021. He was a 1967 graduate of Lake County High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University. David began his career as a nurse and worked for 40 years in his chosen profession. David was an asset to the heart team, a physician's assistant, and critical care nurse at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver before moving to Grand Junction, where he became a Hospice Nurse.
David loved people, his dogs, cooking gourmet meals, baking bread, playing the organ, gardening, riding motorcycles, skiing, painting Leadville mountain scenes, and was consistently positive and had immeasurable compassion for others.
He is survived by brothers, Frank, of Pennsylvania, Mike (Linda), of Montrose, Fred (Cookie), of Oklahoma; sisters, Ava (Jim), of Arvada, Bonnie (Randy), of Castle Rock and the love of his life, Mike Haga. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lily.
Even though we will miss David and his laughter, his memories will always bring us smiles. David has finished his race and is now in Heaven, his eternal home (John 14:2).
A family remembrance gathering will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to Crown Point Cemetery where the Lapp/Brothers family members have been laid to rest since the mid-1850s. It was here that David helped turn an ignored bunch of headstones to the beautiful place it is today. Donations can be sent to: City of Grand Junction, c/o Cemetery Operations, 2620 Legacy Way, Grand Junction, CO 81503. Alternatively, please consider donating to Joni Fair Hospice House, c/o Sangre De Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005, who provided compassionate care to David.
