Deloris Blanchard

Deloris W. “Took” Blanchard passed away on October 5, 2023 at her home in Canon City. She was born in Chase, Kansas on June 25, 1936 to Tom and Elma (Steinman) Hager. Took was active in her church and quilting club. She loved the great outdoors and reading. Her door was always open to friends and family. For 20 years, she worked as a cook in the local elementary schools. If a child did not have money or lunch, she would pay for them. She strongly believed that no child should go hungry. After retiring, she would meet up with coworkers and friends to have coffee at Mr. Ed’s Restaurant.

Took was married for 61 years to John H. Blanchard. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2016. She is survived by her sons , Johnny L. (Jody) Blanchard, Ronald J. (Mary) Blanchard; her brother, Zach Hager and her sister, Virginia Miller.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jesse “Bud” Hager, T.J. “Bo” Hager; sisters, Waunita Simon, Mary Belben, Velda “Petie” Larson; and her long time best friend Maggie (Echols) Cornell. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, family and friends miss her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Saint John Lutheran Church: 790 Greydene Ave. in Canon City.
