Dennis E. Elliott

Dennis E. Elliott of Canon City, CO., passed away at a Colorado Springs hospital on August 12th, 2025. He was born on July 14, 1940, in Ft Dodge, Iowa. Dennis was the son of Charlotte (Mathiason) and James Elliott. 

Dennis married Kaye Maguire in June of 1959. They had six children: Brian, Ft. Dodge, IA, Bruce (Paula), Lynn (Denny) Carlson, Sheila (Bob) Baer, Blaine (Denise), all from Algona, IA, and Julie (Darren) Poeppe, Titonka, IA. They divorced.

In September 1974, Dennis married Marcia Soderberg. They had three children, Scott (Angela), David (Brittany), and Kelli (Jacob) Jones, all of Canon City, CO. 

Dennis served in the U.S. Army and was a military policeman in Korea and Vietnam. He was medically retired. He served as a law enforcement officer in Algona, IA, Thornton, CO, and Federal Heights, CO. He moved to Fremont County in 1981. Dennis served as the Fremont County Veterans Service Officer from 1983 to 1995. 

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
