Dennis McGuire

Dennis Kern McGuire was born in Leadville, CO on March 15, 1941, and went to meet his Lord on February 26, 2025 in Colorado Springs, CO. Dennis was raised by his grandparents, John and Nina Ogilvie. He had a very special relationship with his grandpa John. John was the greatest influence in Dennis’s life. He was loving, caring and devoted, and they had great mutual respect for each other.

Dennis graduated from Florence High School in 1959. After high school, he joined the Army to serve his country. Upon returning from the service, he met and married the love of his life, Marie Moschetti of Penrose, CO in 1962. Together they raised two children, Michael and Denise.

Dennis worked for BLM, Mountain Bell, Southern Colorado Power Company and then for 38 years for Portland, from which he retired. After retirement, he built a beautiful home for his wife on their property in Florence, CO. Dennis was a very talented builder and craftsman. He loved to farm and work in his shop and was always available to help others.

Dennis had great faith and was a loving family man to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie; son, Michael McGuire; grandsons, Josh (Yvette) Sanders, Christopher (McGuire) Curry; granddaughter, Kortney Sanders; great-grandchildren, Colton and Alina Sanders; brother-in-law, Rodney Moschetti; sister-in-law, Janet Moschetti; best friend, Frank Harden of Wetmore; and Brenda Camp of Canon City. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and Leo McGuire; grandparents, Nina and John Ogilvie; daughter, Denise Sanders; brother, Jim McGuire; brothers-in-law, Dominic “Jr” Moschetti and John Moschetti.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church: 3180 E. Main St. in Canon City.
