Dennis E. Pratt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born and raised in South Chicago, Dennis was known for his warm heart, sharp wit, and boundless energy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he married the love of his life, Helen Becerra, on October 2, 1971. Together, they began their life’s journey in Chicago before settling in New Mexico, where they raised their family.
Dennis worked for the City of Albuquerque as a fleet mechanic, dedicating many years to his trade with integrity and pride. Upon retirement, he and Helen relocated to Arkansas, where he began a second career as a Fleet Manager — retiring once more before fully embracing the joys of a well-earned rest.
In retirement, Dennis found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing, sipping whiskey, relaxing in his rocker, and spending time with his cherished grandchildren. Always curious and active, he enjoyed tackling home projects with Helen, watching Hallmark movies, going on walks, and diving into new interests. His loyal labradoodle, Rizzo, was a constant companion in his later years.
Dennis had a unique gift for making people laugh and bringing joy to those around him. His presence lit up every room, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Pratt; his children, Aaron Pratt (Susan), Kristina Maldonado (Ralph), and Stacy Walker (Ron); his beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Trinity, Madison, Ethan, Quentin, Elizabeth, and Julia; and his sisters, Janice, Mary Ann, and Carol. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Marguerite Pratt, and his brother, Charles.
A Rosary and Mass will be held in his honor at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 622 W Second St. Florence, CO, on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 9:20 AM, with a graveside service at San Juan Bautista Cemetery, Hwy 67 & Victory Ln. Florence, CO, immediately following. A reception will be held at 1 pm at St. Benedict’s Parrish Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to San Juan Bautista Cemetery, 200 Wilbur St., Florence, CO 81226.
Dennis leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and resilience. He will be remembered always and missed dearly.
