Dolores Filley, age 77, of Denver, Colorado passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 8, 2024. Dolores is survived by her daughters, Eydie, Sonya, and April as well as 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She has two living siblings, Janet Valderrama of Phoenix, Arizona and Steve Helmick of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Dolores was born on April 3, 1947 to parents, Velma and Virgil Helmick. She was preceded in death by her lifelong best friend and husband of 54 years, Eldon Filley, as well as her brothers, Larry, Glen, and Willis Helmick and sister, Lynda Cool. Dolores attended Canon City High School and later moved to Denver to work and raise her family. She had various jobs, everything from running a home daycare to managing a sandwich shop. She most enjoyed her long and successful career at the Colorado State Department of Health. She worked in the purchasing office until her retirement.
Dolores loved her family beyond measure. She truly loved to feed and care for everyone she ever met. Family, food and a good cup of coffee were some of her very favorite things.
A simple graveside service will be held at Mountain Vale Cemetery: 1700 Chestnut St. in Canon City, Colorado on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at noon. Please click on "tribute wall" to leave a message for the family.
