She was born on January 2, 1928, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Anthony “Tony” Falgien and Fern (Miller) Falgien. She was an only child. Doris moved to Florence, Colorado as a young child. Her father was a coal and copper miner.
Doris graduated from Florence High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation, she married Nathan Ben Mascitelli on October 9, 1946, at Saint Benedict's Catholic Church in Florence, Colorado. Doris and Nathan had two children, Chris and Patty. They were married until Nathan's passing on October 24, 1974.
Doris was a homemaker to her family and caregiver to her mother until Fern's passing. She was an avid card player and enjoyed hosting the pinochle club at her home. She also enjoyed playing golf and taking walks along the Arkansas River. When her health deteriorated, she loved to watch the Broncos and old westerns.
Doris passed on Friday, December 31, just two days from her 94th birthday. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and greatly missed.
Doris is survived by her children, Christopher (Elizabeth) Mascitelli of Denver, CO, and Patricia (Michael) Torvinen of Carson City, NV; five grandchildren, Nathan Mascitelli, Elise (Danny) Sells, Michael Mascitelli, Katie (Jerome) Ortega, and Kristen Torvinen; and two great-grandchildren, Will and Lilah Sells.
The family is thankful to the staff and nurses at Hildebrand Care Center who lovingly cared for Doris for two years.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
