Dr Marjorie "Ann" Willson Obituary

Memorial services to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Marjorie “Ann” Willson will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Westcliffe, Colorado. A luncheon reception will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Tony's Pizza & Tavern, with interment at 3:00 p.m. at Ula Cemetery. During the interment service, Captain William G. Willson (“Bill”), Retired U.S. Navy Chaplain, will be re-interred beside Ann, where after years apart they will once again rest together.

Ann was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of her family, she passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Trinidad, Colorado, Ann lived a life defined by faith, compassion, devotion to family, and service to others.

Ann earned her Doctorate in Psychology and spent much of her life devoted to helping and understanding those around her; she possessed a quiet wisdom and a gentle strength that made others feel loved, respected, and cherished. Her warmth and kindness touched countless lives and left an enduring impact on those around her.

As the wife of Captain William G. Willson (“Bill”), Retired U.S. Navy Chaplain, Ann embraced a life of service and adventure. No matter where life led them, Ann crafted a home filled with love, stability, faith, and family traditions that would last generations.

Her faith remained one of the cornerstones of her life, and she was deeply involved with St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She found joy and purpose in her church community and in serving others. Ann was a true artist whose passion for oil painting became another way she shared her perspective with those around her, refining her gift through study under Arthur Mitchell. Whether through her paintings, her gardens, music or time spent in the mountains she loved, she found beauty in God's creation and joy in life's simplest moments.

She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie “Ann” Barthrop, Sue Fredendall, and Kay Willson, together with their spouses and families, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Captain William G. Willson (“Bill”); her daughter, Billie Jo Hermansson; and her sister, Elsie Jane Buol. After years apart, she is now reunited with Bill, her partner in love, life, and faith.

Together, Ann and Bill cultivated a foundation of faith and love upon which our family was built. Through their guidance, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion, they shaped generations who will continue to carry forward the values they lived by each day. Though they are now reunited in Heaven, their presence will continue to be felt in the traditions they created, the memories they gave us, and the lives of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed to call them “ours.”
