Edward Thomas Slattery passed into eternity on August 6, 2021, at his home in Fremont County, Colorado, at the age of 78.
Ed was born on September 29, 1942, in Granite City, IL to Edward Francis and Vera Alice (Bates) Slattery. He was a 1960 graduate of Roxana High School before enlisting in the Army and serving with the 82nd Airborne Division where he became injured in a training exercise.
Ed was married to Brenda Kay Crause on August 13, 1963, and raised three children together during twenty-six years of marriage: Kelly Diane, Edward Michael Shawn, and Alicia Helen.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ed worked with Thom McAn Shoe Stores, Mutual Life, and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Ed loved the mountains and living a solitary life in Colorado was a dream come true.
Ed is survived by his children; Kelly (Lawrence) Morgan, Mike (Kathy) Slattery, and Alicia Slattery, grandchildren; Lawrence (Selah) Morgan IV, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Roberts, Michael (Shelby) Slattery, Kaitrin Slattery, and Christina Slattery, great-grandson; (Lawrence) Baird Morgan V, brother; Tim (Claudette) Slattery, sister; Patty (Dave) Penman, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with several aunts and uncles.
Honoring Ed’s final wishes, his family will hold a small service where he will receive military honors prior to being interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on September 24, 2021.
