Estha Pauline Cooper Obituary

On June 18, 2023, Estha Pauline Cooper passed away peacefully in Canon City, Colorado. She was 76 years old. Pauline was born September 21, 1946, to Wayne and Mattie Marriott in Lamar, Colorado. Pauline was the 4th of four children and the only girl. She married on August 16, 1964, to Pete Cooper; together they had two sons, Kenneth (Dawn) of Evanston, Wyoming, and Clay (Jeana) of Aztec, New Mexico. She had six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pauline was a housewife as well she worked outside the home. She worked many different jobs. Pauline worked as a meat cutter, waitress, and custodian at the Lady Bird Rest Area in South Fork, Colorado. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had many hobbies: crafting, sewing, gardening, and woodworking.

While working at Boogies restaurant in Del Norte, she made many good friends. She and coworkers, and occasionally the well-known steady customer or customers, would plan trips to Ignacio or Cripple Creek to go gambling. We always enjoyed hearing stories of her trips with her friends and the good times she had. When she would go gambling with family they would call her their lucky charm; this was because they won more because everyone seemed to know her on a first-name basis.

While working for the State at the Lady Bird Rest Area, Pauline was very proud and honored to have made a wood nativity set that she also painted. She did a beautiful job.

Pauline was a big Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed all his music. She also enjoyed country music and was an excellent country western dancer. She and Pete danced beautifully together.

When Pete and Pauline retired from the State of Colorado, they decided to leave Del Norte and moved to Canon City. She was very happy with their choice to make Canon City their new home. Together, they found a beautiful home with a yard and garden they both enjoyed. Her garden and yard became her new labor of love. Pauline could grow the best cucumbers and tomatoes.

Pauline always looked forward to Mother’s Day, summers in her yard and garden, and Christmas. She looked forward to the extra TLC moms got on Mother’s Day and tending her yard and garden so that she enjoyed it. She liked to decorate for the holidays and wrapping gifts very meticulously was something she loved to do.

Pauline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a good friend to all. She was a strong woman who will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

A memorial service for Pauline will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 11 AM, at Wilson Memorial Chapel in Canon City, CO.
