Eugene “Gene” Edward Emery went to be with his Lord February 29, 2024. Gene was born November 9, 1936 to Eugene Victor Emery and Grace (Beck) Emery in Canon City, CO. Gene was married to Phyllis Jean Towne on July 18, 1965. They were married until her death on January 29, 2011.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Lou (Emery) Field; and his first wife, Phyllis. Gene is survived by his wife, Cheryl Emery; daughters, Mary Catherine Emery and Betty Jean Emery, both of Canon City; and his faithful fur companions, Baron and pickles.
Gene lived in Canon City his entire life, graduating from Canon City High School in 1954. Gene worked nearly 50 years as a stucco contractor before retiring in 1998. Word of mouth advertising as one of the best stucco contractors in the area always kept his business going. He worked in Canon city, Florence, Penrose, Wetmore, Silver Cliff, Westcliffe, Rosita, Texas Creek, Howard, Coaldale, Cotopaxi, Salida, Buena Vista, and other communities. Gene also owned and operated Elm Grove Mobile Home Trailer Park until selling the property in 2000. Gene joined the Masons in 1965 and remained actively involved until his death. Gene was also a member of the Elks, Shriners, Four Mile Community Club, and Eastern Star. For 65 years, Gene attended First Christian Church in Canon City and served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Property Chair, Chairman of the Board, and other areas.
A Funeral Service will be at 10a.m on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Holt Chapel of the Garden: 806 Macon Ave. Canon City, CO, followed by burial at Lakeside Cemetery: 1008 Elm Ave. Canon City, CO.
