Obituary

Evelyn Irene Eakes was born to Charles Berton and Grace Edith (McGinnis) Kidder on January 23, 1929, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She married Winfred Paul “Bud” McPeek on September 12, 1945, in Raton, New Mexico. They had five children: Ginger Ferron, Barbara McPeek, Donna Ricke, Jack McPeek, and Wayne McPeek. Bud died on February 9, 1960. On March 30, 1962, Evelyn married Jasper Earnest Arnold. They had three children: Edna Arnold, Linda Dunlap, and Julia Granados. Jasper died on June 26, 1988. On December 7, 1990, Evelyn married Clifford Harvey Eakes. Clifford died on July 31, 2001. Evelyn had 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 stepdaughters, 5 stepsons, 4 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Donna Coleman, Katheryn C. Kidder, and Margery Ann Kidder; son, Wayne; and daughters, Barbara, and Edna. Evelyn passed away on May 14, 2023, in Canon City, Colorado at 94 years old. A memorial service will be conducted on June 2, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Royal Gorge Manor on 1122 N 15th Street, Canon City, Colorado.
