Frederic (Fred) Hoyt Arnold went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2024 at the age of 76. Fred passed into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father while participating in his favorite life-long hobby of fishing while at Skaguay Reservoir. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Arnold, who was the love of his life. Fred is survived by daughters Melissa (Basil) Lane, Teresa (John) Manfredo, Angela (Scott) Elliott, and Sarah (Mitch) DelDuca; grandchildren Ariel Lane, Jennifer (Michael) Wood, Ambria (Michael) Schebler, Julianna Manfredo, Kyle (Sabrina) Elliott, Matthew Manfredo, Michaela (James) Ryan, Kaleb (Kelcie Myers) Elliott, Alyssa DelDuca, Peter Manfredo, Hunter Speer, Elizabeth Elliott, Thomas Manfredo, Kameron Elliott, Isabella DelDuca, and Jayda DelDuca; great-grandchildren Juvia Manfredo-Nine, Xylia Manfredo-Nine, Braxton Davis, Harper Schebler, Josie Elliott-Knighton, Raelynn Elliott, Isla Schebler, Zillah Elliott, Asher Wood, Jace Elliott, and Claire Ryan; brother Robert (Eva) Arnold, sister-in-law Carolyn Edwards and brother-in-law Stan (Mary) Roberts. He is also survived by numerous extended family members who loved him very much. Fred was born on April 11, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Bill and Delores Arnold. He spent his early years in Rosita before moving to Canon City. He spent the majority of his school years in Canon City and then graduated from South High School in Pueblo in 1966. He married Marilyn Roberts, his high school sweetheart, on August 1, 1967. Over 12 years, the couple welcomed four daughters into their home. They lived in numerous locations while Fred served as an electrician on a nuclear submarine in the United States Navy. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Fred and Marilyn made Canon City their permanent home in 1973. He worked as an electrician for Shaar Electric and became a volunteer firefighter for the Canon City Area Fire Protection District in October of 1975. Fred quickly joined the paid department and was very proud of his firefighter career. He retired in March of 2002 but continued to love and show pride for his fire department family. During his retirement, he served in various leadership roles for the Tallahassee Fire Protection District. Fred cherished his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the words of his grandchildren, Papa was a leader, brave, kind-hearted, inventive, creative, insightful, wise, God-fearing, compassionate, adventurous, knowledgeable, sagacious, and selfless. Fred gave his life to Jesus Christ at an early age and passionately served Him his entire life. Fred volunteered countless hours of his time for many years as a Trustee, Deacon, Middle School Sunday School teacher and many other roles for his church. No matter how he was serving, Fred wanted all people to know about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for July 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Canon City High School, 1313 College Avenue, Canon City, Colorado. Captain Shane Roberts of the Canon City Area Fire Protection District will officiate the ceremony, where Fred will receive firefighter honors provided by the Canon City Fire District Honor Guard. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fred’s life. If you would like to honor Fred with a monetary gift, the family would like donations to be given to Justice Takes Flight, (www.justicetakesflight.org). The family would like to thank Colorado Parks and Wildlife, specifically Zach Holder, CPW’s Marine Evidence Recovery Team, Canon City Area Fire Protection District both current and retired, Teller County Sheriff Deputy Sardi, Fremont County Sheriff's Office, Teller County Search and Rescue, Justice Takes Flight, Gold Camp Bakery, and the Canon City School District. Most importantly, Fred’s family wants to thank Jesus Christ for guiding us, loving us and providing us with peace knowing that He welcomed our Dad, His good and faithful servant, into His eternal Kingdom. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. KJV
