Helen Irene Morrison passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, in her beloved home in Canon City, Colorado, at the age of 82.
Helen was born on January 13, 1942, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. She was raised at Mars Orphanage, where she lived until the age of 18. Despite her challenging early years, Helen built a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family, faith, and passions.
Helen worked as a housekeeper by trade, but she found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for animals, caring for many throughout her lifetime. Her green thumb brought beauty to her home through the countless plants she lovingly nurtured. Helen cherished camping trips with her husband and their dogs, finding peace in nature’s splendor. Her mornings were grounded in faith, beginning with coffee and Bible reading, and she treasured long conversations with her children while sitting on her porch and enjoying the fresh air.
Helen is survived by her husband, Charles Reed Morrison and her two fur babies; her children, Timothy Michalski, Wayne (Krystle) Nostrant, Jessica (Jeremy) Vasquez, and Matthew (Sherri) Nostrant; her stepchildren, Katrina (Kris) Wilkinson, Roxann (Benjamin) Moulton, Jamie (Tyler) Robb, and Rochelle (Samuel) Firth; her sisters, Sylvia Estok and Cindy Salera; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, John Laird and Helena Cogley; her siblings, Elliot, Eckart, Merle, Dennis, Gretchen, and Rebecca; and two of her children, Susan and Frank Michalski.
A viewing will be held on December 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with family viewing at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home (1449 So. 9th Street Canon City, Colorado), followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. Graveside will be at Mountain Vale Memorial Park following the service.
Helen’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
May she rest in eternal peace.
