Iva Anderson

Iva J. Anderson (Garner), 64, unexpectedly passed away on December 8, 2024, in Canon City, CO. A longtime resident of Rockvale, she was born on December 8, 1960, in Florence, CO to Ivan Garner and Ella Rigirozzi Garner. Iva was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas Rigirozzi, Frank Garner, John Rigirozzi; and brother-in-law, Jason Gardner. She is survived by her daughter, Rickie Hofer(Josh); son, Cody Anderson (Donovan Maestas); grandchildren, Luke Anderson, Natsu Anderson, and Violet Anderson; sibling, Angelina Gardner; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Rigirozzi and Cathy Rigirozzi; many nieces and nephews, as well as cherished friends who were as close as sisters.

Iva graduated from Florence High School in 1979. She had a passion and love for art; you could always catch her sketching, painting, or doing something creative. She worked at The Fremont Country Extension Office as well as volunteering with the many 4-H Programs and community youth. Marriage moved her to Indiana in 1986 where she worked and started a family. She and her children returned to Colorado in 2005; both to give and gain family assistance. Iva started work as a substitute teacher with the Fremont RE2 school system and retired in March 2024. She truly enjoyed her co-workers and friends, as well as the many kids she taught for over 18 years. She often volunteered with various class events, assembled class reunions, sponsored after-hour school events, and enjoyed attending games to support the teams. Iva was a former member of the Rockvale Community Club. Her bright light, her kindness, her big smile, and spark for life will be deeply missed by all. Iva’s celebration of life will be held at a later date.
