Jack Verlon Cowart of Penrose passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2020. Born August 5, 1956 on the naval base in San Diego, CA, Jack went on to thrive as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force with a career spanning 21 years of service. Once retired from the Armed Forces, Jack served the State of Colorado as a member of the Colorado State Patrol for over 14 years.
Jack passed away in his peaceful and loving home with his devoted wife, Verlaine L. Cowart, by his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ailene Cowart, his father, Dewey V. Cowart, and his nephew Patrick M. Hearon. Jack is survived by his sister, Ardyth Hearon (Brian) and nephew, Phillip Hearon; sons, Samuel Cowart (Tara), Phillip Cowart (Kate Marthaler); daughters, Shannon Brewer (Jacob Kerwick), Shelley Evenson (Craig), Jennifer Rider (Adam); grandchildren (10), Heather Oswalt, Matthew Oswalt, Emily Brewer, William Brewer, Caleb Cowart, Cadence Evenson, Jacob Rider, Chase Evenson, Carly Rider, Chloe Cowart; great grandchildren Sadie Mae Oswalt.
Services will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate Jack’s love of life and his adventurous spirit.
