Jack was welcomed by his Savior on November 2, 2021, after a wonderful life filled with family and good friends. He was born in Grand Junction, Colorado to Jonas A. and Elna Edling on November 10, 1931.
Jack graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. After graduating he joined the United States Forest Service, serving as a civil engineer in Fort Collins, Gunnison, and Monte Vista, retiring in 1992. In 1995 Jack and his wife Sue moved to Canon City to be close to family. He was proud of his service to the community, being a member of the school board in Gunnison, and a deputy with the Sheriff’s Department in Gunnison and Monte Vista.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Sue; daughter, Diane (Buddy) Taylor; grandchildren, Bill Taylor of Canon City, CO, Lorrie (Nip) Fillingham of Mitchell, NE, and Don (Laura) Edling of Cheyenne, WY; great-grandchildren, Brittanie (Chance) Mulso, Lyndie Fillingham, Lexxie Fillingham, Rilee Edling, and Zane Edling; and great-great-granddaughter, Braylie Mulso. Jack is preceded in death by both parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers, and his son, Donald J. Edling of Canon City, CO in 1998.
Graveside services were held at the private Taylor Ranch cemetery.
