James Edwin Avra, of Canon City, passed away on Feburary 23, 2024. He was born in Arkansas. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his children Dave Avra and his wife Jenny, Lynn Wilson and her husband Chris, and Steve Avra and his wife Kristine. Grandchildren Kimber Foust and her husband Steven, Brittany Avra, Heather Zink, Tera Cooper, Drew Avra, Danielle Hanson, and her husband James. Great-grandchildren Zayden, Sophia, Odin, James, Hazelynn, Layne, Bentley, Syler, Tate, and Aurora.
Jim had a fullfilling life. He was a member of the United States Army for 6 years, serving at Ft Bragg NC, Korea, and Key West, FL. He worked the remainder of his 30 year professional career in the mapping division of the US Geological Survey.
Outside of his commitments, Jim enjoyed various hobbies, including camping, and traveling. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to pursue his passions.
Jim worshipped at the Central Christian Church in Fulton, MO. His faith was an important part of his life, providing him with strength and guidance.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 3 pm in the Holt Funeral Home Chapel of the Garden. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Mountain Vale Cemetery in Canon City.

James Avra will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, love, and devotion to his family will be forever cherished. May he rest in eternal peace.
