James Gilbert Cordova Jr. passed away suddenly on April 12, 2025 doing we he loved - working on his camper.
James, Jim, Gil, Gilbert or Jimmy, as people called him, is preceded in death by his mother and father, Annie and Jim Cordova; and his brothers, Joe, Tito, Danny and Leroy Cordova.
He is survived by his sisters, Lydia, Joann and Vickie Cordova; ex-wife, Lela Cordova with whom he had three girls: Annamarie, Deborah and Carolyn Cordova; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
James was born in Dawson, NM. He had many childhood memories in Rockvale, CO and he spent his teen years in Raton, NM where he played in The Lancers, rode a donkey and gathered wood with his dad. He learned to drive in Taos, NM. James was a Navy veteran and served in the Vietnam war. He had many talents, he could do almost anything.
James loved his family and spent time raising his girls and many animals. He loved horses, his dog Pepe, motorcycles, old cars, woodworking, camping, fishing and hunting, finally retiring in Canon City, CO. James had a smile for everyone. He was very loved and is already missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11a.m on July 18, 2025 at Saint Patrick/Saint Joseph: 104 Buena Vista St. Raton, NM.
