James Thye Obituary

James Albert Thye went to be with our Lord on June 26, 2020 at the age of 54.

Jim grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado with his five brothers and sisters, Bob, Triva, Kathy, Diana and Ed. He is survived by all except Bob. After serving six years in the Army, he met and married Dee in Montrose, Colorado.

Jim was a wonderful “Jack of All Trades”, working in many fields over his lifetime. He worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections in Canon City and Calfrac Fracking Company, based in Grand Junction.  He also held a CDL and drove a concrete truck for a few months. More than anything, Jim enjoyed being the owner and operator of Jim’s Café in Austin, Colorado. He was a great handyman, always fixing things around the house and had beautifully remodeled several homes over his lifetime.

Jim loved to cook for family and friends. His family all loved his amazing green chili and frozen pies.  He enjoyed spending time hiking and biking around Colorado and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim loved God and enjoyed studying and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball for a number of years and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

Jim was the kind of man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was an extremely hard worker and would never quit when it came to taking care of his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dee; children, Kendra, Michael, Aidyn; and four grandchildren, Fallyn, Asher, Vyolet and Rowan.  Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Until we are together again, we love you, Jim. Rest in God’s care.
