Mr. James "Jim" L. Zerby, 91, of Pueblo West, Co, passed away on May 7, 2024. He was born on November 8, 1932, in Euclid, Ohio. Mr. Zerby served in the U.S. Army from March 1952 to August 1954, with active duty in Korea. He was an Automotive technician for many years and a Hi-Tech automotive equipment vendor.
Mr. Zerby was a devoted husband of 71 years to his beloved wife Delores and a loving father to his children Keven J Zerby (Jodee Zerby), Kurtis L Zerby (Trudy Zerby), and Tamara Southard (Raymond Southard). He is survived by his grandchildren Jimmy Zerby (Melissa Zerby), Jay Zerby, Chess Zerby, Colin Zerby, Christy Zerby, Anna Belle Zerby, Michael McCumber, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Zerby was preceded in death by his father LaMar Zerby, mother Esther Smith, sister Shirley Ledbetter, and great-grandson Brycen Zerby.
Mr. Zerby was known for being very witty and a friend to everyone he met. He was smart, kind, and compassionate. His hobbies included building and driving race cars, motorcycle riding, being a private airplane pilot, and playing golf. He worshipped at the Ecumenical Church of Pueblo West.
A memorial service will be held on May 17 at 11:00 AM at Wilson Mortuary, 1449 S 9th Street in Canon City, Colorado, with military honors. Interment will follow at the adjoining Lakeside Cemetery. Reception to follow at Wilson Mortuary in Canon City, Colorado, who is assisting with the arrangements.
