Jaunita Womack Obituary

Jaunita Womack, age 86, passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by family on July 16, 2026. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho, on November 26, 1939, to Alvin Leon and Leverda Berkenbile.

When she was just 18 months old, her dad passed away from a heart condition. Her mom later married Franklin Jeffries, and the family moved to Oklahoma when she was very young. Her mom worked in the fields, and while she was away, Jaunita looked after her siblings. Life for the family was not always easy, but it was never boring.

On May 8, 1958, she married Clifford Womack. Within their first year of marriage, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where they had three children: Lisa, Sonny (Clifford), and Lori. When Lori was just a baby, they moved to Colorado.

Jaunita held various part-time jobs over the years. She was deeply involved in her church and Young Life, and she helped with the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She volunteered for “the free store,” which eventually became the New Beginnings thrift store. She also volunteered for Starpoint with special needs adults, as well as Loaves & Fishes, a free store for those in need.

Her hobbies included gardening and crocheting, and she loved playing the organ, guitar, and singing.

She was a strict but very loving mother who taught her children good manners, respect, and how to have a Christian heart. She was also a supportive and loving wife. She easily made friends and possessed a very playful nature. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Jaunita is survived by her husband, Clifford Womack; daughters, Lisa (Mark) Broaddus and Lori (Pat) Hagan; grandsons, Aaron, Jamin, and Jeremy Broaddus, and Kevin and Shane Hagan; brother, Ted Jeffries; sister, Janice Lutz; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Alvin Leon Berkenbile; mom, Leverda Jeffries; stepdad, Frank Jeffries; brothers, Frank, Benny, and Rocky Jeffries; and her special needs son, who passed away just five months ago in February of 2026 from Parkinson’s.
