Jesse Anthony “Tony” Canchola, 73, entered the gates of Heaven on July 7, 2020 after a battle with cancer. He leaves behind many to cherish his memory including his son, Danny (Donna Cayson); grandson, Brandon; great-grandson, Jayden; mother-in-law, Corina Gutierrez; siblings, Louie and George (Yvonne), Margie Aragon, Angie (Manuel) Gallegos, Eleanor Mosco, Mary Ann Sabin, Ruthie Ontiveros, Virginia (Ken) Patterson, Vickie Dorffler, Isabell (Ron) Rael and Juanita (Phil) Mascarenas; Godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives including the Gutierrez family and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria (Gutierrez) Canchola; grandson, Jacob Canchola; parents, John and Mary (Olivas) Canchola, Mary (Perez) Canchola; father-in-law, Jesus Gutierrez; brothers, John, Frank and Andy; sister, Isabelle Wallis.
Tony proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia with the rank of Private First Class. He toured in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Tony enjoyed spending time with his son and grandsons, hunting, gardening, watching MMA and tinkering around in the garage. Tony was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to all those involved in his cancer treatment at Dorcy Cancer Center, and for those involved in his medical treatment at the VA, as well as family and friends who checked on him during his illness and brought him his favorite things to eat.
Visitation, 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 1132 W. Oro Grande Dr., in Pueblo West. Interment to follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens in Pueblo.
