John Murray Hurley Jr., 86, born November 15, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away March 20, 2021 at his home in Florence. John worked at the Wawa Dairy in Media, Pennsylvania and graduated from Media High School in 1953. He went on to join the Air Force, where he served two tours in Vietnam as a pilot with the 8th Bomb Squadron.
In 1973, after serving 20 years in the Air Force, John retired as Squadron Commander, at the rank of Major. He later worked for Hensley Batteries in Colorado Springs and also drove a semi-truck, delivering mobile homes throughout Colorado and surrounding states. In later years, John owned and operated a Care Home with his wife, Mary.
John enjoyed woodworking, building sheds, attending family gatherings and traveling across the nation to visit family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Robert Hurley, Jim (Barbara) Root, Susan Bruening, Terri Munger; grandchildren, Jennifer Murphree, Olivia Davidson, Nicole Howell, Khristean Thibadeau, Johnathan Bruening, Sarah Peck, Jamee Ties, Shane Bruening, Jason Munger, Mandy Munger, Joshua Munger, Tara Mason; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Chase, Shaylee, Davina, Lacey, Rhiley, Dominic, London, Juliana, Abel, Kamryn, Lilly, Lydia, Julia, Aldous, Rowan, Toby, Cheyenne, Kane, Kaleb, Kyler, McKenzie, Colton and Quinn; sisters, Ann Rocco and Jane Corson.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Murray Hurley Sr. and Helen Gladys (Walker) Hurley; wife, Mary Hurley and son, John Patrick Hurley.
