Jose Casimiro Wilson, Sr.

March 30, 1946 ~ August 5, 2025 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Jose Wilson, Sr. Obituary

Jose Casimiro Wilson Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born March 30,1946 to Thomas and Barbara Wilson. He gained his wings on August 5, 2025 to be with the Lord at the age of 79.

Jose was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado and raised in a surrounding farming community where he learned to survive challenging circumstances with his 10 siblings. At a young age, he was forced to work in the agricultural fields to help provide for the family, which instilled in him an extraordinary work ethic. He later met and married his beloved wife, Dianne Martinez. He is survived by their three children: Jose Wilson Jr., Michelle Wilson, and Kathy (Samuel) Wilson. His grandchildren include Kristopher (Reta) McClary, Dominick (Serena) Wilson, Jayme Wilson, Alberto Rodriguez, Dahlia Rodriguez, Adrian Wilson, Isabel Wilson, and Nicholas Wilson. His great-grandchildren are Jayden, Rachel, Zachary, Hadley, Dante, Noah, Rowdy, Raul, and Dianne. His siblings, numerous nephews, nieces, godchildren and in-laws.

Jose worked in construction in his 20s and 30s and later worked at Dorchester Coal Mine/Energy Fuels in Florence, Colorado, for 26 years. Upon the closing of the coal mine, he then worked for Schmidt Construction surface mine near Turkey Creek Ranch for over 10 years until his retirement. He remained active at his home, working in his yard or on any small mechanical issues.

He loved his music, dancing, billiards, horseshoes, and gambling, and he stayed loyal to his Colorado sports teams. People feared him coming with a horseshoe in hand; he was truly a legend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to Cripple Creek. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jose was generous, ornery, caring, comical, and the life of the party. There wasn't anywhere he went that he wasn't willing to help someone in need or make new friends. Anyone who met him always left with a story about him. He definitely left his mark on everyone and will truly be missed by all. Revelations 3:20.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 14th, at 10:00 a.m., preceded by a rosary at 9:25 a.m., at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 622 W 2nd St., Florence, Colorado. Interment will follow at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, Colorado.
