Joshua Aiken Obituary

Joshua M. Aiken, born March 28, 1978, in Provo, UT, to Jean Peterson (Aiken) and Herb Aiken. He passed away on March 28, 2023, at his home in Canon City, CO.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Peterson (Steve) Leuck; step-mother, Beverly Palmer; sons, Dakota Aiken and Jonathan Aiken; girlfriend, Becky Miller; former wives, Patricia Aiken and Stephanie Aldrich (who he remained friends with); siblings: Diana (Rod) Blackner, Vicki (Marcos) Garcia, Lori (Quintin) Gray, Mark Aiken, Becky (Larry) Wayland; stepbrothers, Brent Peterson and James (Kelly) Peterson; along with several nieces, nephews, and great nephews.

Joshua is preceded in death by his father, Herb Aiken; stepfather, Bruce Peterson; and both grandparents.

Josh will be remembered for his gift of caring for others around him, helping others in need, his strength and love for his family. In high school, his nickname was Ogre and old friends would still refer to him as such. He was married to high school sweetheart, Patricia Aiken for 13 years and welcomed two sons, Dakota and Jonathan. He provided for his family by working as a heavy equipment mechanic at Black Thunder Coal mine (WY) and CC-V Gold Mine (CO). After living in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming he settled back in Colorado where he loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends.

He spent his last weekend with family and friends celebrating his birthday and helping his boys fix their vehicles. He was looking forward to warmer weather and the arrival of his first grandbaby arriving this summer, (Dakota and Alicelynn). Gone too soon and will be greatly missed.

In true Josh fashion, we will be celebrating his life on June 19, 2023, at Lake Pueblo in Pueblo, CO at 12 PM. Everyone is welcome to join us. More details will be posted as we get closer to the date. Please find “In Loving Memory of Josh Aiken” on Facebook for those details. Thank you to the Holt Family funeral home.
