Joy Louise Iden entered eternity December 4, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1941 in Waukegan, Illinois, and grew up mostly in Colorado.
She had many interests including riding horses, reading, ice skating, and painting. She also loved studying the Bible and leading Bible studies. She came to faith in Jesus during her teen years.
Joy graduated from Ridgeway High School and went to Western Bible Institute for three years. After that she attended a year of Lamson Business College. She joined Wycliffe Bible Translators, and then married Don Iden on December 14, 1968. Together they went to Guatemala, Central America and translated the New Testament into Eastern Cakchiquel. They lived there for 15 years. Their three children were born there. They returned to the United States, settling in Wetmore, Colorado where they were residing at the time of her death. They attended Wetmore Community Church.
She is survived by her husband, Don Iden; her children, Brent (and Jennifer) Iden and their four children, Bruce Iden, and Melody and (Shane) Nannemann and their seven children; siblings, Judy and (Jerry) Worthley, Jim Brompton, and Dorie and (Dan) Gill and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Tom and Lois Brompton and her sister in law, Twila Brompton.
A memorial service will be held on December 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Wetmore Community Center in Wetmore, Colorado. Andy Smart will be officiating.
