Joy Usry

On June 7, 2025, the world lost a ray of sunshine with the unexpected passing of Joy-Marie Ann Usry “Joy Joy” in Cañon City, Colorado. 

Joy-Marie was welcomed into this world by her proud parents, Frank and Rachel Usry, on February 2, 1972, in San Antonio, Texas.  Joy-Marie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generous acts of kindness. She truly loved others unconditionally and made the world a better place.   

Joy-Marie graduated from Cañon City High School Class of 1990. After working in various occupations, she answered her calling and went on to help others serving in different caregiver roles. Joy’s caring nature and endless empathy and compassion for others came naturally, and is one of many reasons she will be greatly missed. 

Joy-Marie spent her time off with her loved ones. Whether it was shopping with her Mom or having fun summer experiences with her grandson, whom she loved and cherished deeply. Joy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and above all individual. 

Although Joy-Marie is gone, the memories of Joy’s infectious laughter and warm smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Joy, may your spirit forever shine bright!  

Joy-Marie was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Marilee Ann Usry. She is survived by her parents: Frank and Rachel Usry; son: Levi Lyons; grandson: Levi; extended son: Daniel Rash; fiancé: Paul Snyder and his family; brothers: Christopher Usry, Timothy (Sonya) Usry; sister: Brigitte (Jonathan) Betzla; and many nieces and nephews whom she played a significant role in their lives serving as their beloved “Aunt Joy”. 

A memorial service will be held at:
Wilson Funeral Home on June 18, 2025, at 11:00 am in Cañon City, Colorado
