Lavina “Betty” Lathrum passed away October 15, 2023 in Canon City, CO at the age of 103. She was born in Benton, IL on April 23, 1920 to Edgar and Irene (Rea) Banks. At the age of 2, Betty traveled by train with her mother to Colorado. She lived in Fremont County her entire life. She worked at the Army Depot in Pueblo for 20 years and 7 months as a secretary for shipping military equipment. Betty was very devoted to her church. She loved to crochet, and if you knew Betty, she probably crocheted you a blanket. Betty loved her rose garden, traveling to new places, enjoying the leaves changing in the fall, and spending time with family and friends. She deeply cared for her cats, Tiger Lady, Fluffy and Kitty Kat; and her dog, Smokey. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Connie Jenkins and Karen Hall; grandchildren, Bret (Tanya) Jenkins, Michelle McCormick, Melinda Hall, Melissa Hall, Michael (Concetta) Hall; great-grandchildren, Casey (Haley) McCormick, Durango (Keith), River Jenkins, Kendall Megan McCormick, Olivia Irene Hall, Elizabeth Hall, Guinevere Hall and Victoria Hall; great-great-grandchildren, Shea McCormick, Lucas McCormick and Jacob McCormick; and step-children, Bill Ritter, Sue Mixon, Tom Ritter, Robert Ritter and Donald Ritter. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Naomi Wells; and husbands, Bill Onstott, Homer Ritter, Gordon Packard and Dale Lathrum.
A Graveside service will be at 1 p.m on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, CO.
