Lawrence Gilbert Shivers, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026 in Queen Creek, Arizona.
Lawrence was born on May 10, 1936, in Cleveland, Mississippi, the youngest of eight sons born to Columbus and Mamie Shivers.
Lawrence came of age during the World War II era and later enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 20 years, working his way up to the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his career of service and dedication through Sperry/Univac as a customer engineer trainee.
Lawrence married Pat in the fall of 1960, and together they raised two sons. The two shared a strong and loving marriage for 45 years.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Randall Shivers (Rebecca) of Queen Creek, AZ; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by Pat, his beloved wife of 45 years; his parents; his seven brothers, Quentin, Edward and Edmond, John Franklin, Kenneth, Wendell Stanley, and Rodney Sterling Shivers; and his son, Gregory Thomas Shivers.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, Colorado. There will be a viewing on Thursday May 21, 2026 from 6-8 pm at Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, CO.
