Lila May Taton

Lila May Taton, 96, died at her home in Cañon City, Colorado on October 9, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1925, in Argonia, Kansas to Denzil and Lela Wimp.

She moved to Cañon City, Colorado with Murrell in 1956. Among Lila’s many activities she most enjoyed singing in the Cañon City Choir and volunteering as a caregiver at St. Thomas Moore Hospital. Lila was a member of the Cañon Community Baptist Church.

Lila is survived by her daughters, Ivana (Larry) Bean of Cañon City, Colorado, Lana (Mike) Young of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and Glenda (Kenneth) Allen of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Lila has 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Murrell Taton, preceded her in death on June 8, 2005.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Cañon Community Baptist Church Chapel: 1111 Monroe Avenue. Mike Young will be conducting the service.
