Linda Lou (Cross) Detlefsen, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in her home. She was born on July 31, 1938 in Panora, Iowa to Eddie and Violet Cross. She was a graduate of Waukee High School and Open Bible College. She married her Bible college sweetheart, Richard Detlefsen on August 2, 1957.
A lifelong Christian, Linda was a devoted follower and servant of the Lord. She was a pastors wife, involved with music ministry, youth ministry and children’s ministry. She also facilitated many vacation bible school events as “Captain Lou” in a “ship & sailors” theme. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her Christian beliefs were evident in the way she lived.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; their cherished children, Ric, Jewell and LaVonne; and her brother, Frank. She is also remembered fondly by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, Zona, Jean, and Kay, with whom she shared may cherished memories.
In honor of Linda’s memory, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Missionary Organization of your choice in Linda Detlefsen’s name. Linda held a special place in her heart for missionaries, spreading the message of love and hope.
The family will be holding a memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life, at Holt Family Funeral Home, 806 Macon Ave, Canon City, CO, at 1:00 p.m. on Monday February 5, 2024. Linda’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
