Linda Holt Obituary

In loving memory of Linda Grace Holt, who passed away March 25, 2021. She was born October 20, 1946 to Joe DiOrio and Francis (Meade) DiOrio. Linda graduated from Cañon City High School in 1965.  She married David Holt in 1966, a marriage that lasted 54 years. Linda worked as the Activities Secretary for Cañon City High School for 25 years.  She was always very supportive of many students, coaches and faculty and was loved by many. They would always rely upon her to keep things in order and get the job done.

Linda was also extremely supportive of her husband in his educational and career goals. She was the secretary for the business managers at Western State College in Colorado and Ottawa University in Kansas. She was also instrumental in establishing seminars in the Psychology Department at the University of the Pacific, California.

Most importantly, Linda was active in the Cañon Community Baptist Church, participating in Cantatas. She loved to sing in the church choir. Linda truly loved the Lord and she imparted that value to the family. She loved hosting family gatherings during the holidays and passed this tradition on to her immediate family.

Linda was involved in the 4-H program as a young person.  Other hobbies included being a very good cook, which she learned from her mother, oil painting, beading, arts and crafts and tending her rose garden. She, along with a friend, provided special beading for the annual Blossom Festival.  Linda was quite talented in music, as well, learning to play the piano, organ and the clarinet at a young age.

It is no secret that Linda was very devoted to her grandchildren and helped to raise them when they were little. She was able and ready to do almost anything for the grandkids, usually within reason.

Linda is survived by her husband, David; son, David (Christina) Holt, of Cañon City; grandchildren, Jacob Holt and Samantha Holt, of Cañon City; sister, Patricia Olson, of Cañon City; nieces, Tammi (David Greene) Olson, of Greeley, Lisa (Mark) Currey, of Cañon City; nephews, Jeff Olson and Chris Currey, of Cañon City and Joshua Greene, of Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Bill Holt Jr. Linda was a very special person and demonstrated what it means to be a very good role model; a loving Christian woman. Thank you, Linda Grace, for your devotion and love to others. You will certainly be missed by your family and many brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.
