Lois J. Carr passed away at home in her sleep on May 3, 2022. She was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on March 7, 1931, to William Ted Rich and Verna Bartley.
Lois graduated from Frankfort High School in May of 1950. Shortly after graduating, she joined the US Army where she met her husband, Arthur Main Cooper. They were married on June 1, 1951, and had three children: Becky Lee, Garland Main, and Iris Jeanne.
After Art retired from the US Army, the couple moved to Canon City, Colorado. Lois worked for the Department of Corrections, eventually leaving her position as Associate Warden to care for her husband. After 35 years of marriage, Art passed away and Lois moved back to Indiana to care for her parents. While in Indiana, she worked at Wesley Manor.
In 2006, Lois returned to Colorado, moving to Custer County to be close to her daughter, Iris. She worked for Julie Oloman for several years before retiring. She enjoyed quilting and reading books. She was also a member of the 1st Baptist congregation in Westcliffe.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Iris (Tony) Supan; grandsons, William Weaver and Boyd Supan; and great-grandsons, Brody and Brock Supan.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Roger; husband, Art Cooper; second husband, Walter Carr; son, Garland; and grandson, Chad Weaver
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Coaldale Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Westcliffe: 410 S. 6th St., Westcliffe, CO 81252.
