Lorie Garcia Obituary

Lorie Elizabeth Garcia passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the age of 60 in her home in Canon City, Colorado. She was born in Buffalo, New York on June 15, 1961, to Allen and Elizabeth Huston.

In her earlier years, Lorie was a preschool and daycare teacher. She loved these children and opened her heart to them, teaching them with everything that she had.

Lorie always looked forward to every holiday and getting all her family together, especially Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. She would put her whole heart and soul into making sure that her family all shared in the joy and companionship of each other. Lorie's greatest gift in this world was her daughter, Kirra, and her grandsons, Kai and Sammy. Her faithful companion was her dog Biscuit, whom she treasured. Lorie would make special meals for her family and friends, baking special desserts for them as well. She has shown her gratitude and appreciation for people in her life many times over.

Lorie had health issues, but despite the pain and many challenges she faced, she would always try to do something special by reaching out to her friends and family. She did this with her compassion and thinking of others instead of herself. Lorie was there for her family and friends by sharing her contagious laughter, her generous heart, her compassion for others, and her witty sense of humor. Lorie will be remembered for striving to find the sunshine among the clouds and waiting for that rainbow.

Her daughter Kirra found some handwritten notes that we know she’d jotted down to maintain the strength and hope to go on every day facing the many health issues and challenges that she had. She would never give up, no matter the hardships she was facing. Lorie never gave up on Hope specifically, and below is a note that she had written that touched our hearts:

HOPE

Hope is important because it can make the present less difficult to bear. If we believe tomorrow will be better, we can bear the hardship today. Let your faith be bigger than your fear.

Lorie is survived by her daughter, Kirra (Justin) Crow of Canon City, CO; grandsons, Kai Lewis and Sammy Crow of Canon City, CO; brother, Dale (Rhonda) Huston of Peyton, CO; twin sister, Michelle (Rodney) Moreno of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as nieces and nephews of various states.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Elizabeth Huston; husband, David Garcia; and nephew, Joshua Huston.

There will be a Celebration of Life in remembrance and honor of her at a later date, which will be posted at that time for family and friends to attend.

The family appreciates your prayers and all of those who have helped Lorie through the years. If you wish to send cards or give condolences, you can contact Kirra Crow for the information via email at kirracrow87@gmail.com, or message her through Facebook at www.facebook.com/kirra.lewis.5.
