Area resident Marianne C. Hardin passed away at the age of 87 at her home in Wetmore, CO. February 16, 2020. Marianne was born Feb 23, 1932 in Trinidad, Colorado to John M. Williams and Mary F. Toner- Williams. She attended school in Trinidad, CO until her family moved to Florence, CO where her dad was a partner at the Rex Carbon coal mine.
She graduated from Florence High School in 1950 and later earned an Associate’s Business degree. In her early years she was a bookkeeper for Fox Machine Shop, then a Secretary at the Colorado State Prison. She married the love of her life R. A. “Jack” Hardin July 8th, 1961 in Trinidad, CO. They were married for 58 years and had two sons Steve and Rick.
Marianne was a beloved wife and mother. She enjoyed spending her son’s earliest years with them at home. When her sons went to school, she rejoined the workforce. Marianne retired in the mid 90’s from the Colorado State Prison as a Parole department clerk.
Jack and Marianne moved to Wetmore in 1983 and resided there until her passing. They enjoyed fishing at the Hardin family pond with their sons and families, who they were very proud of and enjoyed dearly. They both enjoyed watching the wildlife at their home, especially making sugar water for the hummingbirds. She passed her time watching the Rockies with Jack and researching her family history.
She is survived by her husband Jack Hardin of Wetmore; sons,
Steve Hardin and Sue Roberson of Westcliffe, Rick (Susie) Hardin of Wetmore; grandchildren, Kevin (Courtney) Hardin, Alliance, Ne., Andy Hardin and Shanell Primes, Pueblo, CO., Sarah Kay, Brittany Hardin, Canon City, CO. Kaitlyn Roberson, Westcliffe, CO; great-grandchildren, Layla and Zoey, Canon City, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Williams; and
brothers, Clinton William, Jay Williams, Jack Williams.
