Marvin Wesley Maggard, son of Ed and Lucy (Horn) Maggard, was born on January 22, 1930, in Quinlan, Oklahoma, and departed this life on February 27, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 94. Marvin was united in marriage to Ruby Lee Helton on June 10, 1950, in Woodward, OK. They celebrated 72 years together. Marvin and Ruby had four children; Marvin Wesley Jr. (Brenda), Marilyn Kay Maggard, Elfreida Jo Bennett (Alan), and Sondra Jean Duncan (William). Marvin is survived by his children, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, and many other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Marvin graduated from Quinlan High School in 1947. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do: He worked on many neighboring farms. and ran the homestead farm with his Dad (raising cattle and wheat). He was a school bus driver, a talented mechanic, a gas station attendant, delivered the mail, and ran the telephone office. After moving to Pueblo in 1953, he worked in many departments at C.F.&I. until his retirement in 1986. He came out of retirement to work for the Fountain School District for approximately four years. He was a faithful attendee at many auctions and yard sales for decades. Marvin enjoyed making people laugh and was easy to love. He loved his family, eating ice cream, and teaching his dogs to do tricks. A special thanks to all the staff at Parkview Hospital and Brookdale Senior Living for taking exceptional care of our “He’s so sweet!” Dad. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
