It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary M. Papp on September 1, 2023. Mary was born in Detroit, MI and is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Margaret; and her brothers, Carl, Joe and Arthur.
Mary moved to Canon City with her husband, George and daughter, Anne in 1972. She retired from the Fremont County School District, a position she enjoyed. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She was known for her traditional Hungarian baked goods that she shared with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her family who loved and admired her. Mary leaves behind her husband, George; daughter, Anne (Greg); and her grandchildren, Zac (Jenn) and Abbey.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canon City on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, time pending. She will be laid to rest at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which held a special place in Mary’s heart. Online condolences at www.holtfamilyfuneralhome.com
