Nancy Lesher Millensifer passed away February 21, 2024 in Lakewood, CO. She was born March 26, 1934 in May’s Lick, Kentucky to Aubrey and Evelyn (Yeager) Bramel. Nancy grew up in an orphanage, and she graduated from Midway School in Kentucky. After graduating, Nancy served in the United States Air Force in Sacramento, CA as a B29 aircraft radio mechanic. She met Dale Lesher, her Sergeant, while they were both serving in the Air Force. Dale and Nancy married in 1953, and they moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1954. They moved to Canon City, CO in 1958, where they raised their three children. Dale passed away in September 1983. Nancy worked as the office manager for Dr. Greenlee—his first employee, from 1971 to 1989. She then moved to Denver in 1988 where she married Tom Millensifer. Nancy and Tom traveled extensively together, including trips to Disney World with every grandchild. Nancy was the first female Chairman of the Korean War Veteran’s chapter of Denver, and she was a Kentucky Colonel. She will be remembered as a woman of class that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her children, Debbie (Don) Trinen of Aurora, CO, Randy (Norma) Lesher of Canon City, CO, and Brian Lesher of Black Hawk, CO; stepson, Jim (Laurie) Millensifer of Kansas; step-son-in-law, Jim Cooper of Indian Hills, CO; grandchildren, Rachel (Kelton) Coppinger, Molly (Nate Laidley) Trinen, Christina Trinen, Jason (Neve) Siegfreid, Mandi (Mike Kaine) Lesher, Chad (Amber) Lesher and Morgan Lesher; step-grandchildren, Michael (Megan) Cooper and Katie (Ross) Orpet; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Dale Lesher and Tom Millensifer; step-daughter, Karin Cooper and step-grandson, Bill Millensifer.
There will be a visitation from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Holt Chapel of the Garden: 806 Macon Ave. in Canon City, CO. A graveside service will follow at 2p.m at Lakeside Cemetery with Military Honors: 1008 Elm Ave. in Canon City. A reception will follow at Wilson Memorial Chapel: 1449 S. 9th St. Canon City.
