Nichole Martinez Obituary

Nichole Longo Martinez, a beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2021, at the young age of 38. Nichole was born in Pueblo, Colorado on January 25, 1983.

Nichole graduated from Pueblo County High School in 2001 and during those 4 years, she was a proud member of the cheerleading team. Her love for cheerleading continued as she attended and cheered for Colorado State University-Pueblo, where she would go on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. Nichole displayed a hunger for education and knowledge, going on to receive her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University. Nichole had a passion for working and helping the youth community. Her career took her to El Pueblo Youth Service, Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center, and concluded at Solvista Health where she was happily employed for the last five years. Nichole worked with the Child and Family Team as a school-based clinician. During this time, she had a significant impact on many lives in the community.

One of Nichole’s greatest joys came from watching her son Zeke participate in school activities, her favorite being baseball. Some of Nichole’s fondest interests were music, family, and friends, looking for opportunities to combine them all. Nicole loved life and lived it to the fullest, even on her bad days. She had a laugh that was contagious and a smile that would light up the room. Nichole was greatly loved by many and will be sorely missed by all.

Nichole is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Mike Martinez of Canon City, CO; son, Zeke Martinez of Canon City, CO; parents, Pete Longo and Deborah Shaufler of Pueblo, CO; father and mother-in-law, Don and Linda Martinez of Denver, CO; sisters, Kirsten Longo of Pueblo, CO, Britiany (Hunter) Shaulfler of Pueblo, CO, and Philadelphia (Josh) Whipple of Clarksville, AR; brother, Todd (Ayla) Richardson of Muldrow, OK; sister-in-law, Melisa (Matt) Costillo of Denver, CO; uncle, Matt (Lydia) Longo of Colorado Springs, CO; aunt, Theresa Maurello-Longo of Pueblo, CO; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
