Patricia Marie Bullock

Patricia Marie Bullock, lovingly known as Patty, unexpectedly passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 69. Though her family is devastated and grieves the loss of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the loving presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.

Patty was born on July 23, 1956, at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, Colorado, to John “Sonny” Ratkovich and Shirley Ratkovich. She was raised on the family farm, where she developed a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. She attended Penrose Elementary School and graduated from Florence High School with the Class of 1974.

One of Patty’s favorite memories was being crowned the 1972 Apple Day Queen, an honor she cherished throughout her life. She remained proud of that special time and still treasured her Apple Day Queen crown.

From an early age, Patty’s greatest passion was horses. They brought her peace, joy, and some of her happiest memories. Whether spending time outdoors, caring for animals, or enjoying the simple beauty of country life, she found happiness in God’s creation.

For many years, Patty courageously battled a brain tumor. She refused to let her illness define her and faced every obstacle with determination, grace, and incredible strength. She was one of the strongest people her family has ever known, inspiring everyone around her through her resilience and unwavering spirit.

Patty and Joe enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting together and shared a special love for their cats, who were treasured members of their family.

Above all else, Patty loved God with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and it was deeply important to her to pass that faith on to her children and grandchildren. (p. 1) She loved her family fiercely, prayed for them faithfully, and lived as an example of kindness, perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love.

She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her loving husband, Joe Bullock; her children, Sara Stepleton and Tracy Stepleton-Voss (Roy), Jason Bullock (Brent), Jerry Bullock, and Jolene Whitlock (Sean); her brothers, Gary Ratkovich (Carmen) and David Ratkovich (Tami); her beloved grandchildren, Logan, Carson, Evan, Brynn, Brady, Alli, Hayden, Jorden, Deven, Tristen, Olivia, Elena, and Jaxxen; and her cherished great-grandson, Elias, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John “Sonny” Ratkovich and Shirley Ratkovich; her stepfather, Robert Clark; her sister, Cheryl Ratkovich; and her beloved daughter, Stacey Stepleton.

Though our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the years we shared with Patty. Her strength, faith, love, and gentle spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.  Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished so deeply and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.

A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Canon City, Colorado.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church.

The family asks that those attending remember Patty by embracing their loved ones, keeping their faith close, and extending kindness to others—just as she did throughout her life.
